• Parcels company Interlink plans to launch into Europe, opening 100 franchises in West Germany before June next year and moving into other countries by 1992. Managing director Richard Gabriel says he wants a Europe-wide network like TNT and Federal Express (see page 32).
The company is also striding ahead with plans for Postplan, the London-based letters service which it bought for £180,000 in March and which is now set for national expansion using Interlink trunking. It is being headed by Martin Peacock.
Interlink begins an express freight division in the autumn, based at a new hub close to its present Harklebury depot, which is running at full capacity at peak periods. It will open in August. Gabriel predicts that Interlink will record £5.75 million pre-tax profits for the year to 30 June.
