Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Pye Telecommunications Ltd has announced that it has received a contract to supply the first-ever vehicle location system — Pinpoint — in the UK. This is believed to be the first of its kind in the world.

Applied to the management of large fleets of vehicles, the system, which is used in conjunction with a conventional two-way radiotelephone, allowing the normal speech facility, automatically monitors every vehicle's identity, location and status.

This contract covers phase one of the system which will provide this service in the Greater London area. Vehicle location will be used by the Securicor fleets themselves, and Securicor will offer this additional service to third parties via its HELP emergency and message-handling radio system.

Securicor will operate the Pinpoint system from its new radio control centre in South London.

A Pye spokesman says "With this sort of system in use, we look forward to hijacking being a thing of the past".
