T AST WEEK in CM the retirement of Eric Adlington from 1—i Temple Press after 41 years' service was recorded. Many people in the industry—especially on the manufacturing side— will know him well; many others will not. So let me, in paying my own tribute to a rare gentleman, explain that ENA, as he is affectionately known around the place, is due for his own share of credit for the continued success of this journal over the years, Not only do some members of CM's editorial staff owe their selection at least partly to his guiding hand, but his advice and his sheer enthusiasm have, I'm sure, been reflected in the way in which some editorial jobs have been tackled. One of his very last actions before leaving was to dream up a new idea for CM. Its fruits will be seen by readers in the months to come.
