TN HIS WRITTEN decision issued this week on a renewal application by David Bros. (Haulage) Ltd. and associated companies, Mr. D. I. R. Muir, the Metropolitan Licensing Authority, denied allegations by the group that it had been singled out for specially severe treatment. "This is simply not true," said Mr. Muir.
The application, which had not drawn objectors, was granted until September 1968. Mr. Muir had told David Bros. that if he still had cause to believe that they subordinated the maintenance of their vehicles to another consideration or per sistently infringed the law the licences would not be renewed in 1968.
At the public inquiry (COMMERCIAL MOTOR March 24) it was stated that since July 1965 the companies had received 38 immediate and 106 delayed prohibitions. Mr. M. Jackson-Lipkin said the company had experienced difficulty in obtaining the services of suitable mechanics. Mr. Solly Davis said: "We are suffering from sabotage". The company's premises at Wapping had been improved at a cost of £45,000 despite a notice to quit. New premises at Warley should open in September 7.
