1 House of Commons, the Minister of Transport stated that he could not instruct Licensing Authorities to grant a temporary dispensation for increased fares for smaller bus com.panies.
Mr. Fraser asked whether the Minister knew that the recent increases in the cost of fuel had made uneconomic the operation of rural service run by small bus operators without large reserves. Further, it would take up to 12 months for applications for increased fares to be heard by the Licensing Authorities.
