Standard Motor Co., Ltd., confirmed the report published in "The Commercial Motor," last week, that the company has designed and developed a new oil engine. It incorporates a special combustion chamber embodying the patent of the Freeman Sanders Engine Co.,

The engine has been under developrnent for three years. It has a bore of 3i ins, and a stroke of 4 ins. The power-to-weight ratio is stated to be high. To prevent excessive carbon formation on the pistons and cylinder walls a patented top scraper ring has been introduced.

C.A.V., Ltd., has provided special equipment to enable maximum power output to be obtained at low engine speeds, also positive starting at temperatures well below zero Fahrenheit.

The unit can be used in place of the petrol and vaporizing-oil engines now fitted to Ferguson tractors and Standard commercial vehicles.
