A Useful Competition Designed to Show the Capabilities of the Different Motorcycle and Sidecar Combinations on the Market.

THE commercial sidecar demonstration now in progress has been organized by the Auto-Cycle Union for the pur-. pose of demonstrating to traders of all deSeriptions the value of the motorcycle and sidecar as an aid to the collection and delivery of goods. In view of the fact that the Rciyal Agricultural Society's Shaw is taking place during this week. Chester is included in the itinerary, although the competing machines will only remain in the city for 2,1 hours, the day of their passage through the city being Friday next.

The event consists of six days' running over main and secondary roads at a speed of 20 m.p.h., each machine having the full load• for which it is designed, together with such spare parts, tools, etc., as may be required. The competitors started from Birmingham at eight o'clock on Monday and travelled 123 miles to Buckingham for the night. To-day they trawl 117 miles, via Cambridge, to Ipswich; to-morrow (Wednesday) their course of 138 miles takes them to Norwia„ King's Lynnand Peterborough; on Thursday they reach Harrogate after travelling 133 miles ; on Friday, after .dining at Chester, they stay at Shrewsbury, having covered 134 miles in the day, whilst on Saturday a short run to Birining,ham over a 50-mile route will bring the total distance covered in the week to 695 miles.
