Pollution has slammed the Government for failing to act on the Commission's call for tax incentives to encourage the use of low-emission diesel engines. It has called for a "more positive approach".
The Government's response to the Commission's findings, more than a year after they were published in September 1991, also failed to acknowledge the Commission's view that fuel additives for heavy diesel engines could have harmful side affects — the Commission has called for new procedures to ensure adequate testing.
