• After a poor start to the year, which included the longest strike in the company's history, Ford of Britain production in the last six months of 1971 exceeded 1970 levels, 70,731 commercial vehicles being built as against 64,979 in the same period of the previous year. Total cv production for the full year was 121,472 (141,517).
