section of the new North Cheshire motorway (M56) has been published as a draft scheme by the Minister of Transport. It deals with the western section of the motorway, starting just north of Preston Brook in Cheshire and extending to a point west of Hapsford, by-passing the congested villages of Helsby and Frodsham on A56. Eventually this section will form part of a 30-mile motorway from the Princess Parkway (A5103) at Wythenshawe, in Manchester, to A5117, west of Hapsford.
