New Dempster models in service

ADVANTAGES of the DempsterDinosaur and Dempster-Dumpmaster bulk materials handling, storage, and haulage systems are combined in new equipment now operated by Drinkwater Services Ltd. of Willesden, London.

The equipment is called Dino-Master and combines features of the Dinosaur and Dumpmaster systems—the Dinosaur has lorry-mounted handling equipment and demountable bodies, whilst the Dumpmaster design consists of a fixed body containing compaction rams and is available with or without self-loading arms. As operated by Drinkwater, the Dino-Master units have 27 cu. yd. compaction bodies of Dumpmaster type but in demountable form designed for use with Dinosaur-equipped chassis.

Powell Duffryn Engineering Co. Ltd., sole European licensees for Dempster systems, has supplied two units to Drinkwater, the first to be sold by the concern. They are fitted with loading arms for lifting storage containers of up to 6 cu. yd. capacity and have self-sealing hose connections for quick and easy coupling to the handling vehicle's hydraulic power source.

At the same time, 15 open-top Dinosaur bodies and two Dinosaur handling units on Foden 20-ton gross six-wheeled chassis were supplied.

Drinkwater has doubled the original 15 cu. yd. capacity of some of the open-top containers by building up the fronts, sides and tailgates.
