AFTER being told that an application for a 4-5' Contract A licence for a 3-i–ton boxvan had not been published in A's and D's, the South Wales Licensing Authority, Mr. R. R. Jackson, adjourned the inquiry at Cardiff on Wednesday.
Mr. C. R. Craddick, for the applicant— Mr. J. H. Evans, of Pontypridd—said the vehicle had been purchased at the request of the customer, Golmet Doors Ltd., of Caerphilly. A special body had been constructed at considerable cost for the carriage of products for this particular company.
Pending resumption of the inquiry, Mr. Evans is using the vehicle on a C licence.
"I understand the reason this matter comes before you is because of something which was said on another occasion when a statement was made by Golmet Doors as to their future policy regarding licences", said Mr. Craddick.
"The previous transport manager of the company, Mr. C. Palmer, will explain that what was said on that occasion was subject to an application by Mr. Glyn Day being granted. I understand this was not granted and they don't consider they are bound by what was said on that occasion."
When Mr. Palmer came forward to give evidence, Mr. Rosser John, who was appearing for an objector, said: "We have been unable to object to this because it has not been published."
