Appointment System at USA Docks: In a move to alleviate traffic congestion on the waterfront, New York City is inaugurating an appointment system for trucks calling at piers, with penalties for non-cooperative hauliers. A board Will be created to deal with complaints under the new system and there will be liaison with all pier users, including shipping, railways, lighterage firms and road haulage companies.

New Name for Smith and Sons

EFFECTIVE from January 1, S. Smith and Sons (England) Ltd. are now known as Smiths Industries Ltd. It is believed that the new title will be less clumsy to use and will convey to the general public a clearer picture of the many and varied interests in which the company is engaged.
