rlA NEW fares scale designed to increase revenue has been recommended by Sheffield Transport Committee. The proposed new rates are 2d. for about a mile, 3d. for l miles, 4d. for two miles, 5d. for three miles, 6d. for four miles, and proportionately up the scale.
A penny would be added to the 4d.6d. fares on " zone " stages from the city terminus, and 3d. " central " stages would be introduced on routes passing through the city centre. .
Children's fares are proposed at the rate of Id. for adult fares up to 4d., 2d. for 5d. and 6d. fares, 3d. for 7d. and 8d. fares, and 4d. for 9d. and 10d. fares.
Cheap mid-day rates on city routes are recommended from Monday to Friday excepting National and Bank Holidays. These would be available between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and would reduce the 4d.-7d. fares by id.
