Oo the advice of the town clerk, Huddersfield Transport Committee have cancelled over 5,000 free passes for old people on the corporation's bus services with effect from yesterday. The step has been taken as a result of the High Court decision in the Birmingham case.
The general purposes committee have recommended the town council to support a Bill being promoted to legalize the provision of free travel.
Hull Parliamentary and General Purposes Committee are also considering the question of promoting or supporting a Bill to enable the corporation to grant concessionary or free travel facilities.
