A DRIVER WAS threatened with a handgun when he tried to stop thieves taking 300 TVs from his truck in a Derbyshire lay-by.
The curtainsider, operated by a Polish firm and driven by a Pole, was parked on a bridge over the M1 at Barlborough, near Chesterfield when the robbery took place in the early hours of Tuesday 29 January.
The driver was asleep in his cab when the robbery began; he was threatened with the pistol after waking up and challenging the thieves.
Police believe another truck was used to remove the goods before the gang drove off in a dark Audi. Any witnesses to the robbery, which happened between 12am and 4am, should contact Detective Constable Shane Rathband at Staveley CID on 0845 123 33 33.
