I Truck manufacturer ERF has topped taking orders for its as-powered ECX vehicle after s engine fell foul of new EC raking regulations.
A spokesman said the etroit 60 gas engine was the nly gas engine fitted by the Om that does not comply with ew auxiliary braking regulaIons. EC Directive 98/12 comes Ito force for trucks regisered from 1May 2002.
ERF makes around 150 gas ehicles a year.
It is currently engaged in a eview of its gas vehicle pro
gramme with an announcement expected at the Commercial Vehicle Show in April.
Both Ivaco and Scania say that their gas engines fully comply with the European law.
