A Retford haulier who admitted losing his temper with a VI test station manager was urged to change his attitude when he appeared at a Leeds disciplinary inquiry.

North Eastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney was considering the licence for one vehicle and one trailer held by Geoffrey Curzon, trading as Geoffrey Curzon Transport. However, he adjourned any action because he wanted a financial assessor to give his opinion on further financial evidence.

Vehicle examiner Roger Page said that he had carried out a maintenance investigation in August following a statement from the Doncaster test station manager about Curzon's attitude when his vehicle was presented for prohibition clearance.

Curzon told him that he had not been prepared for the clearance procedure the test station insisted on carrying out. Curzon could produce maintenance records for his current vehicle only, saying that he was in dispute with his previous maintenance contractor who would not release the records. Those that were available showed that the sixweek inspection period had been exceeded by two weeks.

Curzon had also failed to notify a change in his operating centre.

In reply to Malcolm Plaskitt, for Curzon, Page said that two prohibition notices had been issued. One related to an inoperative ABS warning light.

He disputed that the other had beer imposed for a brake defect on the third axle when the axle was in the lifted position. He said that Curzon had made the brake inoperative because of a problem with • system.

Plaskitt said that Curzon had a gc record over the past nine years but had advisedly got himself into difficult situatio He had not notified the new operating ci tre as he had not appreciated the fir points of 0-licensing law, added Plaskitt,

Adjourning the proceedings, the IC s that Curzon had a record of difficulties A the authorities.
