• A truck driver in the West Midlands was left "badly shaken" last week after a died him into his trailer, before hijacker tied him up and bunstealing the load.

The hijacker pounced at Corley services near Coventry on the M6 on 31) January. He threatened the driver, claiming he had a firearm and forced him into the back of his Volvo artic.

The hijacker drove off but later stopped where he tied up the driver and unloaded the 42 cages from the trailer. He then continued on his way before abandoning the vehicle.

But the driver, who works for Wincanton on contract to high street chain Woolworths, freed himself and phoned police from a garage in the Darlaston area of the Black Country.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said the driver was unharmed but "badly shaken" by the attack. Police are continuing their enquiries.
