Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The BBC has denied suggestions in the Observer newspaper that it plans to go ahead with the delayed transmission of the 'Night Moves' programme on the road haulage industry (Commercial Motor January 10). A BBC spokesman says there are no plans to show the programme at the moment.

• A survey of up to 1,500 companies is being undertaken by Eurotunnel through a series of eight seminars at regional centres this week and next. The aim of the survey is to discover the likely demands for transport services through the Channel Tunnel.

• The long-running dispute on the B&1 shipping line has escalated with the almost total standstill of the stateowned company's sailings between Britain and Ireland. The standstill follows a decision by ships' officers to extend their strike from passenger ferries to the freight service after talks with management about manning levels broke down. Freight services were already badly hit by a dispute between management and craftsmen and the latest move has prevented most sailings from taking place. On Monday this week only the freight service between Larne and Stranraer was operating.

• York City Council's decision to extend the city centre's lorry ban (CM Headlines January 31) appears to be setting a precedent in Yorkshire. At Wombwell, near Barnsley, HGVs have been banned, at least until local roadworks are completed.

The ban is part of a number of traffic changes for the town agreed by Barnsley Council's joint transportation subcommittee.
