Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Fiat group's preliminary results for 1986 show that its commercial vehicle building subsidiary, Iveco, increased its turnover by 1.0%, but sold 4.5% fewer vehicles than in 1985.

The 1986 Iveco vehicle sales total of 94,657 does not include sales from Iveco Ford Truck, which will be consolidated from 1987.

Alan Fox, commercial operations director of Iveco Ford Truck which was formed in July last year, says it is too early for the results of the company's first six months' trading to be declared yet.

He is, however, confident that 1987 will see Iveco Ford retain its UK market leadership with truck sales increased from last year's 10,477 to "over 11,000."

Fox is keen to scotch ru mours of Ford's continental dealers losing interest in the Cargo range, which is built at lveco Ford's Langley plant. "We are still spending money developing the Cargo. There will be new models," he says, adding that Iveco Ford "intends to keep its position as the UK's major truck exporter."

Of the 11,994 trucks built at Langley last year, 3,447 were exported — 6% up on 1985.
