Just before Christmas the TGWU gave a verbal agreement to the wage increase offer of 4.6%. Only hours later the union reneged on this decision and opted for a re-ballot of members for a further directive, either to accept the increase or to pursue industrial action.
The re-ballot, held on January 29, has given an overwhelming thumbs-up to the 4.6% offer, which will In the Western district a settlement has been reached by the Devon and Cornwall JIC. The agreement includes a £5.50-aweek increase across the board, overnight subsistence up to 212.45 and continental subsistence up to 223.
