Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A TAILOR MADE version of the Ampliroll vehicle-mounted wastehandling system has been put into service by the Staffordshire County Council.

Two new vehicles have been designed to handle containers of the chain lift type. The containers need some modification, but this does not impair the use of chain lift equipment. Staffordshire, serving a population of one million, has a 450,000 tonnes throughput of domestic and commercial waste and 1.1 m tonnes of industrial waste each year. Much of this waste is transported to one of 20 landfill sites and five treatment plants for final disposal.

The new Hearncrest Boughton Ampliroll 160/30 units, fitted to 30 ton gvw Foden Haulmaster chassis, have gone into service from the Cannock depot.

These units can be readily operated by the driver without leaving his cab and will carry 26cum (36 cuyd) filled compaction containers from the transfer station at Wombourne to the landfill site at Cannock.

The Ampliroll is claimed to pick up filled containers from uneven ground, where large misalignment angles exist, assisted by an independently controlled rear roller stabiliser jack.

A low-pressure 300psi hydraulic system activates each function.

The introduction of the new Ampliroll system allows any type of compaction container to be used in the Staffordshire fleet, which already includes 19 conventional vehicles. Far greater flexibility will be possible than in the past giving savings in both time and money.
