• Hino importer Harris UK has confirmed that its new lightweight six-wheeler and 17tonner have won type approval, and it is preparing for a launch in mid-1990.
The trucks will share an EM100 six-cylinder 160kW (215hp) naturally-aspirated engine and nine-speed Fuller gearbox. Final model designations have not been decided, but the six-wheeled tipper chassis will start with GS, and the 17 tonner's with FH.
Asked about other trucks in the pipeline, the company says that other trucks, like a replacement eight-legger or a 7.5-tonne down-plated 10tonner have been looked at. But none of these will be seen in 1990.
