Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

S Jones Transport Service Group (CM 23-29 November) regarding the number of "cowboy" training companies.

Many of these so-called "cowboys" do untold damage to the reputation of the training industry and many quickly go out of business. Until there is some form of compulsory training and registration of schools and instructors this will continue.

Our company has been campaigning for many years that all HGV instructors should have undergone formal training and be registered with the RTITB before they are allowed to teach. The cost of training an instructor is more than £.3,000, which is beyond the scope of the small trainer.

If funds were made available to offset these training costs, as in the case of Group Training Associations, then this problem would be resolved. Of course the problem may be compounded when the RTITB is disbanded.
