QI recently left one company which I had only been driving for for two weeks. I was starting work with another company immediately. 14 (I) of the EC regulations 3821/85 clearly states that record sheets are "personal in character". Further (2) of Article 14 states that the "undertaking" (the operator/ employer) shall keep the record sheets in good order.
You should accept the photocopies and keep them for three weeks.
