Ml. . .), the Department of Transport has just announced it is to plant 90,000 trees and shrubs on motorways and trunk roads in the NorthWest this winter.
The programme is costing 2450,000 and a range of native species will be used including oak, ash, field maple, blackthorn, beech, alder and dog rose. These will presumably conceal the cracks, shore up the flaky cement and secure the failing joints.
