Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The flourishing one-tonnepickup market is set to be joined by another contender next year, from the Polish manufacturer FSO.

The vehicle is based on the Polonez saloon car chassis, which has been on sale in the UK since 1979. FSO (previously Polski Fiat) importers based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent confirmed this week that the new pickup will go on sale early in the new year, to supersede the company's 610kg-capacity vehicle which is derived from the 125P saloon.

The Polonez saloon is powered by a 1,481cc fourcylinder engine developing 61kW (82hp), driving through a five-speed gearbox. It is not yet known if the pickup will retain this driveline but, like other one-tonne pickups on the market, it will undoubtedly feature a leaf-sprung live rear axle, combined with a coil sprung wishbone set-up at the front derived from the saloon.

Buyers can expect the new model to be among the cheapest one-tonners available,

as FSO markets primarily on price — the current pickup sells for 22,999 (ex-VAT).

Customers should not expect too much sophistication, because, like other Eastern European makes, FSO's designs are based on Fiat technology from the sixties.
