Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Mercedes-Benz will launch two 17-tonners at next year's Motor Show in October.

In addition to a re-cabbed 1617, designated the 1717, Mercedes will be courting the high-power market with a 150kW (200hp) 1720 model. Both vehicles will have the latest MK cab, which has styling "in line with the SK cab on heavier trucks", with the existing chassis and suspension.

The engine in the 1720 is a turbocharged six-cylinder inline unit with inlet charge cooling. The basic engine already used in the LN2 range, is available in Germany in blown and after-cooled form.

Asked if the option of two vehicles will split the market penetration of the existing 1617 model, Mercedes says: "It is difficult to predict the effect on the market," but it feels that the bulk of 17-tonne sales will be around the 126kW (170hp) mark. Mercedes' 1617 held 13.6% of the total 17tonne market to October this year to take equal third place with Volvo behind Leyland Daf and Iveco Ford.
