Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• APG Distribution, the Corby-based distribution division of the Allied Partnership Group, has bought Oughtred & Harrison (Distribution).

The acquisition by APG, which has been undergoing a reorganisation by managing director Colin McDavid, is the first stage in a plan to develop a national depot network.

McDavid wants to have live or six depots of 4,600-5, 600m2 and a fleet of 140 vehicles within the next 18 months.

Oughtred & Harrison (Distribution), which will continue to be run by its founder Dennis Dyson, operates a fleet of 35 vehicles, mainly 38-tonne artics. It has an 8ha depot which incorporates workshops

and a purpose-built warehouse of 7, 500m2 at Newcastle upon Tyne.

Its operations and customer base, which include major food, confectionary and beverage manufacturers, are similar to those of APG and McDavid expects the deal to increase efficiency and accelerate growth.
