A NEW EEC body has been established so that the haulage industry and trades unions have a bigger say when the EEC Commission drafts a new directive affecting the road transport industry.
The Joint Road Transport Committee, which will include 22 representatives of hauliers and 22 trades unionists, will hold its first meeting in Brussels on December 18.
The committee will be able to give its opinion on draft legislation before it becomes law and put forward its own suggestions.
