Battenberg Ill (picture), is leaving Britain to become product manager of General !Motors Flint car group in America.

During his two-and-a-half years at Bedford he has been responsible for the major reorganisation of the Luton van and Dunstable truck plants and the launch of the Midi and Astra vans and the recent joint Bedford/Suzuki microvan project.

In his new post, he will be responsible for manufactur ing, engineering, product planning and finance for Buick. Cadillac and Oldsmobile cars.

His successor at liedfOrd will be announced shortly.

US-born Battenberg has been with GM since 1961.
