TWO ALUMINIUM alloy tipping trailers which can double as coil carriers have been built by E. M. Wilcox of Peterborough for Mansell Davies of Llanfyrnach, Powys.
The 42m3 Seadyke stepframe trailers each have a 341mm deep tapered well in the rearmost section lined
with hardwood to protect the coils. At the front, an extra well takes smaller coils.
Interlocking rear doors allow overhead cranes to load the coils.
Rubery Owen-Rockwell axles and suspension are fitted with the Neway air lift on the front axle.
Edhro DS18 tipping gear is used with a Lister single-cylinder donkey engine.
To accommodate a central grain hatch, the offside rear body door covers two third the width.
Despite the additional fittings to accommodate the coils Mansell Davies say that bulk payloads of up to 23 tonnes can be acheived.
