SOUTHERN engineer with SPD, Mike Hamilton, has been appointed chief engineer for the recently formed NFC Distribution Group.
Hamilton is now responsible for the smooth running of the 1,3 0 0-strong fleet operated by the group's four divisions — SP1), SPD Contract Distribution, Carrycare and GDS.
He is based at SPD's headquarters in Watford, from which he controls all fleet activities, including budgeting, purchasing, vehicle efficiency and workshops.
Hamilton joined SPD in 1965 as assistant to the fleet transport engineer and was promoted to the post of Scot tish regional engineer two years later. Following promotions within the company, he was appointed southern engineer in 1979.
