Co-operation
Pi/T. R. B. BRITTAIN, of Essex Car
riers Ltd., South Benfleet, chairman of the Eastern Area of the Road Haulage Association, stressed the debt that farmers owe to road transport at the annual dinner of the Norwich sub-area on Monday. He pointed out the need for farmers to realise that the lorry should not be kept hanging about Unnecessarily because this meant a waste of time and money, which sooner or later the farmer has to bear.
"Once this point has been realized." said Mr. Brittain, "It is but a short step • towards full co-operation • between farmers and hauliers in the campaign of the R.H.A. whose declared object is to ' Turn That Lorry Round He mentioned the example of the fairly • elaborate arrangements for the collection ' of milk from farms in tankers in a fraction of the time that used to be needed for picking up churns from the 'wayside.Other steps can be taken that will pay good dividends to the farmer, said Mr. Brittain. He should ensure that there is always someone on hand when it is known that a lorry will be calling to .deliver supplies or to collect his produce.
