QPEAKING on the redevelopment of the King George Dock at Hull and referring to the needs of road transport at the annual meeting of the Hull Chamber of Commerce last week, Col.

• G. W. Bayley, chairman of the Shipp:ng Committee, said that the completion of the new roadwayon the south side of Albert Dock would mean three entrances there, but on the larger docks, Alexandra and King George, they were still restricted to one entrance for each. He mentioned that the total cargo handled at the port up to November 4 this year was just over 7,250,000 tons, an increase of 750,000 tons on last year.

Col. Bayley added: "While we have reason for satisfaction with our commercial gains, we must not lose sight of the fact that they cannot be retained without the means to handle them."
