information from all over the world is provided by the National Lending Library which has been opened at Boston Spa. Yorks, by Lord Hailsham, Minister for Science. With a collection of some 350.000 volumes, valued at £2 million, this undertaking is the first of its kind in the world, with the possible exception of Russia and China. Controlled by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, the National Lending Library for Science and Technology aims to promote the effective use of literature in this field, providing a return-of-post service for practising technologists and research scientists. Literature, which is generally at graduate level, is issued through institutions on the
borrowers' list.
