chassis worth £425,000 have been ordered by British operators. These push the value of bus orders placed with the Leyland Group this year to over £3 m. from the U.K.. alone. Largest of the new contracts is from Western S.M.T. Co. Ltd., Kilmarnock, for 37 Albion Lowlander LR.1 double-deckers with Pneumo. Cyclic gearboxes and 21 Leyland Leopard ..PSU3.3 models for 36-ft. long single-deck bodywork with synchromesh gearboxes and air suspension. Albion Lowlander LR.1 models have also, been ordered by Central S.M.T. Co. Ltd., Motherwell, with a contract for 20, and W. Alexander and Sons (Midland) Ltd., Falkirk, who have ordered 18. Alexander has also orderd 21 Leyland Tiger Cub PSUC1.12 coach chassis with constant-mesh gearboxes and single-speed rear axles. Other orders have been placed by East Yorkshire Motor Services., Hull,' for seven Leyland Leopard PSU3.3 models, Preston Corporation, for five Leyland Titan PD3A.1 models and Accrington Corporation, for two Titan

PD3A.2 models. •

MORE COMETS FOR INDIA: Indian public transport undertakings have placed orders for Leyland Comet bus chassis worth more than £500,000 with Ashok Leyland Ltd. Maharashtra State Road Transport has ordered another 80, whilst Madras State Transport has ordered 72 and Uttar Pradesh Government Roadways has ordered 33.

TURKS ORDER COMETS: Twenty Leyland Comet. 7-tonners luive,been ordered by the Nationalized Water Board of Turkey, Devlet .Su Isleri Genet Mudurlugu, for-work on dam construction and similar projects.

VICTOR COACHES ORDERED: Two operators in the North of England have ordered the first of the new Albion Victor VT21L coach chassis. Blundell's Coaches (Southport) Ltd., and Henry C. Cox Ltd., New Brighton, have each ordered a chassis equipped with a six-speed overdrive gearbox. Both will have 41-seater Flax/on bodies.

MORE FOR PROGRESSIVE: Another eight Leyland Super Comet tractive units have been ordered by Progressive Deliveries Ltd., Coventry.

BRADFORD WANTS MORE: Bradford City Transport has placed a repeat order, worth 4580,000, for 30 A.E.C. Regent Mark V double-deck bus chassis, bringing the total number of this model in service or on order for the Bradford fleet to 120. The specification includes A.E.C. AV.590 diesel engines; set to develop 140 b.h.p., a.c. generating equipment, tour-speed synchromesh -gearboxes, Lubrimatic equipment anti Ashanco exhaust brakes. The buses Will have M.C.W. 30-f t.-long front-entrance bodies with seating capacities of 70.

LINCOLN -TAKES FIRST: Lincoln City. 'Transport has -taken delivery of its firstA.E.C.-.Park Royal Bridgemaster buses: These are also believed to be the first A.E.C.s of any kind to enter service with this fleet. The Bridgemaster low-height double-decker differs from the Renown model introduced this year in being of integral construction.

SOUTHERN RHODESIA'S LARGEST: Clan Transport of Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia, has just taken delivery of an articulated outfit with a OaYload capacity Of 19.5 'tins,' said to be the largest payload capacity of any vehicle operating in Southern Rhodesia. The tractive unit is a modified A.E.C. Mammoth Major eightrwheeler, the rear bogie assembly of which has been re-positioned to give a wheelbase of 13 ft. 3 in. -The semi-trailer which is of chassisless construction and about 38 ft. overall length, employs Fruehauf running gear and the bodywork is by Zambesi Coachworks.

MONARCHS FOR MAURITIUS: The .sugar eitate factories of Mauritius, which have joined together for transport purposes, have ordered eight A.E.C. Monarch tractive units. They will be powerd by A.E.C. AV.470 diesel engines and will have Duramin • cubs.

A.E.C.s FOR CANARY ISLANDS: Four A.E.C. Regal Mark VI single-decker bus chassis and three Monarch tippers have been ordered for operation in the Canary Islands.
