of Transport has appointed members of the new Central Transport Consultative Committee. The appointments remain in force until July 31, 1965, and are:Mr. A. Bowlt, Mr. H. Collison, Mr. G. Dudley G. Perkins, Maj.-Gen. P. G. Whitefoord and Miss M. Triggs. Mr. Bowlt is group transport adviser to the Guest, Keen and Nettlefolds Group, Mr. Perkins is joint deputy general manager of the Port of London Authority, Miss Triggs is head of the W.V.S. headquarters transport department; the other two members have served on the previous Central Committee.

Mr. J. E. C. Moorey, managing director of Munn and Underwood Ltd., is taking up the appointment of special director— education and training for the Wadham (Holdings) Group of Companies from January 1, 1963.

Mr. C. P. Hopkins, who has been general manager of the Southern Region of British Railways since 1950, is to retire at his own request for health reasons on January I, 1963. He is being asked to serve on the Southern Railway Board as a part-time member when this is set up early next year under the Transport Act of 1962. He will be succeeded as general manager by Mr. David McKenna, at present chief commercial officer to the B.T.C., and formerly assistant general manager of the Southern Region.

Mr. S. L. Pillar, transport manager with the Richmond Sausage Co., Liverpool, has been appointed rolling stock engineer to Southport Corporation Transport Department. He previously held the same position from 1949 to 1954.

Mr. Henry Joy, general manager of Walter Alexander and Co. Ltd., coach builders, of Falkirk, has been appointed to the board.

Donald R. Kampman, 37, has been appointed director and treasurer/comptroller of Chrysler Motors Ltd. and Dodge Brothers (Britain) Ltd., Kew, Surrey. He will be responsible for all financial aspects of the activities of these associated companies. He replaces Mr. S. M. Hegedus, who has left Kew •to take up an appointment in Turkey with Chrysler International S.A. Mr. Karnpman joined Chrysler Corporation in June, 1950, and in May, 1962, he became comptroller for the Eastern Hemisphere Region, a post which he has left to join the board of the Kew companies.

Mr. E. G. Dravers has been appointed assistant general manager of the Potteries Motor Traction Co. Ltd. as from January 1, 1963. Mr. Dravers is at present general manager of Hebble Motor Services Ltd. Mr. Robert Gaymer Jones has joined Hubert H. P. Trist and Co. Ltd., as general sales manager. Co-ordinated with this new appointment is the reorganisation of all the sales activities of the company: Mr. W. E. Foster, Devon and Cornwall area secretary for the R.H.A. and T.R.T.A., has been elected chairman of the Devon and Cornwall centre of the Institute of Traffic Administration. Mr. R. Flory, manager of W. Mumford Ltd., has been elected vice-chairman.

Mr. W. P. Butterfield, joint managing director, has been elected deputy chairman of W. P. Butterfield Ltd., Shipley, Yorkshire, parent firm of the Butterfield companies. He continues as joint managing director with his brother, Mr. R. H. Butterfield.

Mr. J, J. Johnson has been appointed general sales manager, Guy Motors (Europe) Ltd. He will be responsible for commercial vehicle sales in all home and export markets.

Mr. J. Hamilton Barbour has been appointed sales executive responsible for road transport by.the Robert Kearsley Division of Pinchin Johnson and Associates Ltd.

Raymond C. Firestone, president of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., arrived last week from the United States.

Obituary

WE regret to record the death of Mr. VI' S. J. Rattenbury.

Mr. Rattenbury, fleet engineer, London Parcels Division of the British Road Services, died on November 27.
