• At a public inquiry in Birmingham last week two companies were both successful in separate 0-licence applications, the West Midland LA Mr J. Else, granting both in full.

He granted a licence for four tipping vehicles to R. Fahy and P. Joyner, of Birmingham, after hearing evidence as to the company's financial stability.

Mr R. Fahy, attending applicant, told the LA that the vehicles carried cables and similar material for the Post Office.

The second company, Saville's (1902) Ltd, of Aldridge, was granted a licence for seven vehicles with a margin of three.

Mr D. E Skelding, representing the company, assured the LA that as there were no adequate maintenance facilities at the firm's Aldridge base a local garage carried Out all inspection, repairs and general maintenance.
