Before the end of the year BR will have odified over 200 automatic half-barrier vel crossings, in line with recommendations ade after the Hixon accident in January )68. New features are: an amber light to .ecede the red flashing stop lights and wering of the barriers; extended interval :tween the start of the warning and the rival of the fastest train; "Another Train oming" sign which lights to show that a cond train will pass before the barriers ie; near-to-hand push-button phones for aergency use; and, on road approaches, rge signs telling drivers of large or slow hides to phone signalmen for permission cross.
