Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Norwich, Edinburgh and Cardiff were published in last week's issue, figures for the " blitz " checks around Manchester and Bristol have become available, and show that prohibitions are still fairly high.

At Manchester. of 851 goods vehicles examined, 566 (67 per cent) were found to be defective; of these, 460 (54 per cent of total, approx.) were given delayed prohibitions and 106 (12 per cent) immediate prohibitions. At Bristol, 584 vehicles were examined, 295 (51 per cent) were found defective and, of these, 263 (45 per cent, approx.) had delayed G.V.9s and 32 (5 per cent) immediate bans.

The Ministry has announced that Maidstone, Birmingham, Aberdeen and Southampton are on the blitz list.
