• Contract hire and truck rental firm Ryder's turnover increased to £100.4m from £94.4m last year, which helped pre-tax profits reach £3.8m, a £2.6m rise on last year's return.
Record levels of contract hire work, increased business in distribution and growth in rentals helped the US-owned firm increase operating profits by 37% last year.
Individual performances are not detailed, but contract hire and truck rental revenues increased by .£3.3m while distribution services grew by 10% to L30.7m. This was helped by contracts such such as the just-in-time operation for the Nissan car plant. The Ryder fleet increased overall by about 1,000 vehicles.
