Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Receivers at Samar Container Services have disclosed that there were no "tangible assets" left other than land and bad debt when they arrived at the husband and wife business in February.

And they say it is unlikely th West Yorkshire-based haulier creditors will get a penny of £1m they are owed.

A new company set up by the children of Sanmar's directors acquired some of Sanmar's assets in the month before it was put into administrative receivership (CM 17-23 February).

The children's business, Silver Birch Container Services, has taken over finance agreements on many of Sanmar's trucks.

Silver Birch, which was granted an interim Operator's licence on 11 March for 80 trucks and 100 trailers, is awaiting approval for a long-term licence from Licensing Authority Keith Waterworth. A single objection against the application from the Transport & General Workers Union's regional officer Maurice Britton has since been withdrawn.

The receivers say they are continuing to investigate Sanmar's financial affairs. Meanwhile, the bank which had loaned Sanmar money secured on the assets, could take action to overturn any transactions which it had not been told about by Sanmar.
