aycoon Richard Branson has come to the aid of a teenage businessman forced off the road by his rivals, Andrew Cawley, 17, faced ruin when his fledgling bus company in Liverpool encountered harassment from other bus operators whose drivers would pull up alongside his vehicles and barge them off the road. With just five buses and a modest £10,000 investment the teenager felt it was not a case of fair's fare.
Luckily, he met Branson at a TV studio and the former boy wonder (now 43) was reminded of his teenage years as a fledgling entrepreneur. He offered to use the £1bn muscle of the Virgin empire to help Andrew get running again: "I hope Andrew's rivals will think again, now they know Virgin is going into business with him," says Branson.
