It was only when Malcolm Brammer was off down the road that AA patrolman James Henry realised his good neighbourliness was misdirected—the owner of the vehicle ran from his house in time to see his van roar away. Brammer did not get far—having drunk 11 pints of lager during the afternoon he came to a halt after crashing into a parked car. A Southampton court fined him £425 with two years' probation and a ban.
