• York's Freepost Roof Raiser curtainsider trailer, shown for the first time at November's Scottish Motor Show, will officially go on sale at the end of the month. The raising roof Freepost trailer can provide operators with extra loading flexibility. It can operate within the 4.2 metre height limit for 38-tonne work and also run on 32.5-tonne work with its roof raised by 400mm.
The raised roof option adds around £1,500 to the standard 12-metre Freepost curtainsider, and reduces payload by some 300kg. The Freepost Roof Raiser curtainsider body is based on a tri-axle semitrailer intended for 2+3 operation at 38-tonnes — but its Tecair suspension tri-axle bogie has a lifting front axle for 2+2 running at 32.5-tonne. 0 York is looking at returning to the car transporter trailer market in 1989. According to the company it could sell between three to four trailers a month without disturbing its existing trailer building activities. A York car transporter trailer would use the company's own air suspension, axles and hydraulic components, although some of the body work could be done outside.
Possible assembly sites are York's Corby HQ or its Cannock depot_ Other products under consideration by York is a skip-loader body, using York hydraulic components.
