Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Bar Delivery Services has developed a new urban artic for pub distribution in association with Don-Bur (Bodies and Trailers) of Stoke-on-Trent to create a 10-tonne airsuspended trailer with a 10metric-pallet capacity, a 7.9m long platform including a twopallet working-space at the rear, and a deck height of 1,067mm.

The Iveco Ford Cargo 10-13 and Leyland Daf Roadrunner 10.12 tractor units were both tested, modified from their rigid guises with chassis shortened to give a 2.59m wheelbase and a 990mm high fifth wheel height, in both cases. Don-Bur has fitted lowprofile tyres and Monsanto spray suppression to the trailer and created stowage space for 226.4kg CO2 cylinders beneath the load deck.

There is 2.4m of clearance beneath the cant rail and a Quinton Hazen under-rail for impact protection.

Bar Delivery Services is a joint venture run by NFC Contract Distribution and Whitbread to supply pubs in south east England. The new urban dray was specified after "10 months of exhaustive road tests in the inner London area," says BDS, with the dual aims of offering "better manoeuvrability in tight corners and improved working access on both sides of the vehicle."

Some of the test drops the artic carried out included onplatform deliveries at Euston station and drivers threw out the original design because the tractor unit was undepowered and the cab nodded regardless of whether the trailer was loaded. Cab comfort needed to be improved for the average drayman too, said the drivers.
