Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TRANSPORT Union membership in North East England jumped last month in advance of Teesside dockers' check on lorry drivers, carried out on Monday.

John Yates, the Transport and General Workers' Union's Teesside district officer, said 60 drivers have joined at his office since warning of the check went out four weeks ago. Drivers have also joined at Newcastle, Stockton and Darlington, and the total number of drivers recruited is well over 100, he said.

Owner-drivers have joined, paying one year's subscription in advance.

The check at Teesside docks is the first since the new card was issued, although similar checks have been carried out in the past. It was highly successful, and quite good humoured.
