A The London Traffic Survey showed that
the proportion travelling by public transport was 90 per cent, totalling 1.08m. persons. The balance, comprising private cars, scooters and cycles totalled 120,000 people. The public sector was made up of: British Railways 40.83 per cent; underground 34.17; bus 16. 00.
Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. it is estimated that 1.2m. people travel to work in inner central London.
